Memberships

Together with our customers, suppliers, other external partners and, most importantly, the communities in which we do business, we aim to create shared value. Collaborating closely with our partners and engaging in dialogue is central to the growth of a sustainable industry.

Transparent exchange of information

We ensure that our exchange of information with customers is always ethical and transparent through our collaboration with SEDEX (Supplier Ethical Data Exchange), which is the largest collaborative platform for sharing ethical supply chain data. We regularly provide and submit data on our labour standards, environmental efforts, health and safety initiatives and business integrity.

Seven of our global manufacturing sites (Beijing in China, Parma and Mantova in Italy, and Octeville, Saint Laurent sur Sèvre, Corcelles-les-Cîteaux and Lisieux in France) were independently audited by Bureau Veritas using the SMETA (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit) 4-Pillar framework. The successful audit covered Labour Standards, Health & Safety, Environment and Business Practises.

Industry associations, partnerships and memberships

High standards are essential for our business and the industry as a whole. We collaborate with industry associations and engage in partnerships and memberships with organisations to maintain and raise standards.

R-Cycle

Sidel is a member of R-Cycle – an open tracing standard for sustainable plastic packaging. By providing a digital product passport, R-Cycle allows the implementation of a circular economy and a highly efficient value chain, connects all value-added partners along the cycle – from packaging manufacturers and converters to the recycling industry.

With R-Cycle, production machinery records automatically all recycling-related properties in a digital product passport, pass this along the value chain, and make it retrievable. Thus, waste-sorting lines can identify recyclable packaging and form recycling-friendly and pure fractions.

This is the basis for obtaining high-quality recyclates to establish a working circular economy.

Ellen MacArthur Foundation

Sidel is a member of the The Ellen MacArthur Foundation, which develops and promotes the idea of a circular economy. It works with, and inspire, business, academia, policymakers, and institutions to mobilise systems solutions at scale, globally.

The Ellen MacArthur Foundation mission is to accelerate the transition to a circular economy. The vision is a new economic system that delivers better outcomes for people and the environment. Business models, products, and materials are designed to increase use and reuse, replicating the balance of the natural world, where nothing becomes waste and everything has value. A circular economy, increasingly built on renewable energy and materials, is distributed, diverse, and inclusive.
